Carol Gale Colchester Trophy Day – Information for Parents

We’ve been invited to take part in the Carol Gale Colchester Trophy Day, an ADFP freestyle competition suitable for dancers who want to try the ADFP competition pathway.
Categories the dancers will enter:
Disco Solo
Slow Freestyle Solo
Disco Pairs
All categories require plain wear only (no rhinestones, sparkles, or different materials).
Please liaise with your dancer’s partner to confirm whether you would both like to take part in these categories.
Optional Extra Practice
From January we offer extra ADFP practice sessions on Tuesdays from 6.30–7.00pm, which are open to anyone wanting to compete.
These sessions are optional — the only required classes for competing are Core Class and Comp Squad Class.
Costs Involved
1. ADFP Registration – £22
This is required for all dancers entering ADFP events and covers the rest of this year.
2. Competition Tickets – £19 each
Both dancers and spectators must have a ticket to attend.
ADFP Grading System
In ADFP competitions, dancers progress through a grading system.
When dancers place well, they lose ‘lives’ or grade points, which helps them move up through the categories as they improve.

About ADFP Competitions
These competitions are very well run, with three judges, big trophies, and a full day of enjoyable experiences for the dancers.
Parent Decision
Parents simply need to decide whether they would like their dancer to:
Register with ADFP for £22, and
Attend the competition day at £19.50 per person
To register, please let me know as soon as possible. I will then email you to request the required details, send the payment link, and complete your membership.
Rules at the competition:
• Numbers should be worn on the back.
• Make-Up – none for U10s.
• No acrobatics in any event
•Use of recording equipment is not permitted at any Disco freestyle competition e.g., video cameras / phone cameras etc. This also includes live broadcasts on Social Media Platforms and Video calls
• Bare feet
• BEGINNERS DRESS RULES APPLY
• No dance school logos or uniform to be worn.
What to wear:
A lot of costumes can be bought second hand from dance wear selling pages on Facebook, vinted, ebay etc.
If you need help please contact Miss Katie. A plain black leotard can be worn for all dances if you are feeling overwhelmed.
Team costumes can be word for all ADFP Dances.
Disco Pairs:
For Beginners outfits have to be plain and block colours.
Disco Solo:
Plain wear
Lycra Leotard/catsuit/crop top/Hot pants
Slow Solo:
Plain wear
Lycra Leotard/catsuit/crop top/Hot pants
